Historic Renovation of 1371 Columbia Avenue - Franklin, Tennessee
1371 Columbia Avenue is a late 1890’s post-civil war home. The land’s first record is 1896. Purchased in 2019, the Owners rehabilitated and added onto the home from 2020-2021. Preserving the historic integrity of the downtown Franklin home was critical to their endeavor.
The architectural style of the home is Folk Victorian, combining simplicity with intricate details. The original floor plan was maintained and carried through the addition, supporting the period’s domestic ideals of comfort and sociability. To maintain the home’s heritage, additions followed original lines, old materials were repurposed, and new materials selected to match original home. The renovation focused on staying consistent with historic era while designing new spaces for a modern lifestyle. Extensive period research was conducted to guide design and acquisitions for both exterior and interior.
